Think Opens Lampshade PHP Framework

DALLAS, TX -- October 18, 2005 -- Think today announced that its Lampshade Free Edition PHP framework is now available in an open-source format free of charge from its web site at:

http://www.thinkcomputer.com/software/lampshade/free.html

Lampshade is an advanced PHP framework built for the Linux / Apache / PHP / MySQL (LAMP) environment that offers web site developers a simple, convenient method for creating web-based applications.

The announcement comes at the same time that PHP engine designer Zend Technologies, Ltd. is just getting its framework efforts off the ground. Zend is planning on enlisting a number of companies and individuals to create yet another framework.

"Lampshade is already ahead of the curve," Aaron Greenspan, the framework's designer and Think's President & CEO said today. "It's already being used in industry, right now, by companies on the New York Stock Exchange and in large university settings for research. There won't be any 'death by committee' taking place around the software's features because different factions can't agree. It works, it's secure, it's tested, and it's out there."

Think has seen mounting interest in recent months from developers looking to take advantage of Lampshade's features, such as user administration, automatic form error-checking, and e-commerce integration. Lampshade also acts as an application server for companies looking to run more than one web-based software program at once.

The company will still charge fees for commercial use of the product as listed on its web site. For more information about licensing, contact Think Sales at 1-888-815-8599.
