Think Develops Real-Time Accounting Technology

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- January 8, 2007 -- Think Computer Corporation today announced the immediate availability of a previously unimaginable accounting technology in its Exponent line of accounting packages. The Real-Time General Ledger, built into Think's Exponent accounting package, will save businesses who use the technology extraordinary amounts of time and energy, as bookkeepers will be able to keep records balanced and current whether it's the beginning, middle, or end of the month. The technology will also enable executives to get a better view of their companies' finances.

Traditionally, accounting professionals wait until the end of each month to reconcile their Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable tables with their General Ledger tables. In contrast, Exponent's new system literally builds the General Ledger table on the fly each time it needs to be accessed.

"Thirty years ago, when a lot of the accounting software we use today was written, the kind of processing power and database technology necessary to do this simply didn't exist," Think's President & CEO, Aaron Greenspan, who also developed the system, said. "It's a completely new way of thinking about the problem, which is what we like to do."

The Real-Time General Ledger still makes it easy to ensure the accuracy of records. PDF reports allow quick comparison of Exponent's results to paper or electronic statements from banks and credit card companies.

Month-end processing is currently regarded as a nuisance due to the fact that it necessitates locking down the server on which it is running, preventing employees from entering orders or making changes. Consequently, bookkeepers are used to spending late nights at the office on the 30th or 31st of every month as a result.

A free version of the web-based Exponent software for small businesses is available at Think's web site at:

Exponent offers a number of other unique features, such as automatic PDF tax form completion for S corporations and direct integration with on-line payments via Authorize.Net. Payroll services are also available on a subscription basis.
