Think Launches Interbook Green Publishing Initiative
PALO ALTO, CA -- May 12, 2008 -- Through its new Think Press division, Think Computer Corporation today unveiled a software initiative designed to make book publishing considerably more environmentally-friendly. The web-based system, called Interbook, effectively makes the age-old paper bibliography obsolete.
With Interbook, non-fiction trade books that once required hundreds of pages of notes referencing primary sources can be printed and manufactured without those sections being physically included, and without negatively impacting the credibility of a text. Instead, by displaying the trademarked Interbook logo prominently on the back of their book jackets, publishers can quickly signal to readers that the book comes with a companion web site, accessible only to book owners, linking each page to appropriate primary sources and other relevant sites.

The Interbook Logo
The new initiative, being rolled out simultaneously with Think Press's first book, Authoritas: One Student's Harvard Admissions and the Founding of the Facebook Era, is particularly timely given the recent rise in the price of oil.
"This makes sense for everyone," Think CEO Aaron Greenspan, also the technology's creator, said. "If you're a reader, it means that Interbooks will be more likely to be accurate because there's extensive on-line documentation, and looking at the author's original sources makes reading that much more interesting. If you're a publisher, it means that your printing costs are going to be substantially lower than they would be otherwise, that you can fit more books per carton, that you'll save millions of sheets of paper each year, and that you'll spend less on shipping. If you're a non-fiction author, there's never been an easier way to organize your sources and get your point across."
The first Interbook site is already on-line at:

More information about Interbook is available in a Think Press brochure:

In addition to using the Interbook technology and trademarks for its own books, Think will offer licenses to other publishers on a per-book or annual basis. Publishers should contact sales [at] thinkcomputer.com for pricing and additional information.
