Story of Facebook, Inc.'s Birth Outlined in New Book
PALO ALTO, CA -- June 30, 2008 -- Think Press has published Authoritas: One Student's Harvard Admissions and the Founding of the Facebook Era, a memoir by Aaron Greenspan that details the circumstances leading to the runaway success of "The Facebook," a site he invented as an undergraduate student at Harvard College, and that later inspired a classmate, Mark Zuckerberg, to create his own version. That version is widely known today as "Facebook," the web site with tens of millions of members that is one of the most frequently-visited sites on the internet.
The book is of interest to those who follow Silicon Valley trends due to Facebook, Inc.'s spectacular valuation, placing its worth in the billions. The origins of the site have also been the subject of a recently settled, multi-year lawsuit involving ConnectU, Inc. Consequently, there has been a great deal of speculation regarding the originality of the concepts and the code behind the popular site. With hundreds of pages of clear evidence serving as the basis for the book, Authoritas puts those rumors to rest.
Greenspan, the Cleveland, Ohio native who is the book's author, discusses the concepts that later became integral components of The Facebook through the lens of his own education. His story also encompasses dealings with autism, government, and business, making for a suspenseful tale that is highly relevant to our modern society. He began to write the story after graduating from Harvard one year early in 2004.
Authoritas is an Interbook. All of the documents used to write the book are available on-line through the Interbook site.
Several events with the author will be taking place in the near future in Silicon Valley and the greater Cleveland area. Check the Think Press web site for details.
